View Full Version : HELP!!! I'm dead :(
Hello :(
I have a problem... a HUUUGE problem about HD.
My HD is ~15G. It's formatted FAT32.
As I install Windows2000/XP, everything goes normal, BUT!
As I install Windows9x/Me,
DAMN SETUP says about some 'SU13' error, which talks about having wrong type of HD - NTFS or HPFS.
Help me please.... I need that f***ing Windows 98/me on my computer :(
ALSO when I run fdisk, it crashes after asking whether I want to enable largedisk support, or no :(
Thanks a lottt.
Did you tried to install the win98 and win XP on different partitions, on on one???
If you tried to install XP and 98 on one partition, and the XP drive was formated as NTFS - it is normal that your system crashed.
First you have to make 2 different partitions, using for example Pqmagic. Then activate the first and install win98/Me. After installing it, you have to enter Pqmagic and activate the second partition(it may be NTFS if you`d like), when it is active the first partition is hidden . Then Setup XP. Afterwarfs install the PQBoot (it comes w/Pqmagic) and setyup as you want and enjoy!
MAN.
I wrote already that I'm formatting it as FAT32.
After formatting it as FAT32, I am able to install Win2K or WinXP on it normally, but I can't install Windows9X!! Even on clean just formatted FAT32 HD :( After initialization screen, Windows9x/me tells me about some 'error SU0013', which is about installing windows on hpfs/ntfs partition, which is IMPOSSIBLE because I've just formatted my all HD with FAT32.
Maybe that's because I did partitioning with LINUX's CFDISK... But I can't use DOS's FDISK, because as it asks me 'do you want to enable large disk support' and I answer something [yes or no], it CRASHES!!
Thanks a lot hope this time will help me :(

Silver

Message SU0013
To set up Windows 98, your startup drive must be
an MS-DOS boot partition. If your startup drive is
formatted as HPFS or NTFS, you must create an MS-DOS
boot partition before running Setup. For more
information about creating an MS-DOS boot partition,
see your computer documentation.
You may also receive this error if you have third-party
partitioning software such as EZ drive or Disk Manager
installed. If so, reboot your system and run Setup
from an MS-DOS command prompt.
u tebya vint kakkoy firmi?
naydi disk manager (DM) dlya nego i sdelay full format iz DM-a.
My Hard Drive is Maxtor 51536H2, 15004Mb, 255 heads, 63 sectors, 1868 cylinders... That's what Linux's HardDrake is telling me.
About downloading utilities... I cannot because I ain't have internet connection, and as I'm now under Linux without Windows, I can't send/receive files from the internet through Freenet using ZModem protocol... Just don't have ZModem client for linux.
So if someone would help me about this, I'd apreciate that a lot. Thanks again.

Also try the Seagate's SeaTools. It operates with any HDD, icluding Your Maxtor independently of any system. It solves a lot of problems! Delete all of your partitions with this utility and then recreate 'em all again. Sad, but true! And yes, DON'T overcome the 1024 cylinder boundry! That is app. 7,5 Gb max. should be given to the first partition (system partition), on which you're planning to set up an OS, but not more! One more recommendation: VS Microsoft's opinion, I suggest you having only Primary Partitions. In this case you should use the Win2k's or WinXP Disk Management console in mmc. Or just the Partition Magic 7.0 and higher.
