This film tells the story of the last 12 hours in the life of Jesus (Caviezel), on the day of his crucifixion in Jerusalem. This film's script is based upon several sources, including the diaries of St. Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774-1824) as collected in the book, "The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ", "The Mystical City of God" by St. Mary of Agreda, and the New Testament books of John, Luke, Mark and Matthew.

'The Passion' Soars Beyond $200 Million

Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" took in $51.4 million in its second weekend to remain the top movie, racing past the $200 million mark in just 12 days.

"The Passion," Gibson's bloody re-enactment of Christ's crucifixion, has grossed $212 million so far in the United States and Canada. The movie is expected to top $300 million, said Bob Berney, president of Newmarket Films. The independent distributor was hired by Gibson to release "The Passion" after Hollywood studios passed on it.

насчет евреев тоже не поняла, в остальном фильм безумно понравился. образ сатаны - мне от него было страшнее, чем от самих истязаний. фильм очень важный, мне кажется.

посмотрел вчера - очень не понравился. безидейная "натуралистично" снятая вешь со штампом "сделано в голливуде". так и не понял почему меня должно шокировать обилие томатного сока... запомнился только стражник-римлянин с сумасшедшими глазами и очень плохо подобранный соундтрэк.
