Another reason I can think of is the fact that they are both quite ancient nations, but as to their history I wouldn't say it is similar enough...

Armenians are loud nation. Their loudness is comparable to Italians and middle easterners. North Europeans are comparably quiet. Loudness is a matter of emotionality in Armenia. If you are angry it is quite normal to hear it from your voice. Sometimes voice loudness in Armenia is a chance to make you hear in a hot discussion.
When there is a hot discussion nine out of ten people participating in it, will consequently interrupt each other. Actually interruption is rather regarded as sign of interest than of impoliteness.

But the most paradoxal thing I think I've noticed is that though Armenians are believed to be emotional people (like any Southenr nation, as they say), they are rather cool and reserved at public events, such as concerts (of course I don't mean classic music concerts) etc. They don't scream and shout, they just applause politely after the end of each song as if trying not to seem totally indifferent... In this way they very much differ from, say, the same Russians....

When I was in Greece last year, I was taken either for a Greek or for an Italian.... Sometimes for a Spanish, too
