10  |  To AKB Administrator Hello there. There is one question I want to ask you. What are you thinking about garbage collection, I mean don't you want to delete the topics that are really old already and are not supposed to get any more replies. I understand that this will cause subjective moments, but I think it is wrong to wait until the Author deletes his old topics. Please discuss this problem with the forum participants, as the forum gets bigger and the garbage becomes easier to feel. Thank you. <img src="wink-5.gif" border="0">

10  |  This is not a regular practice for message boards. Even old topics contain useful information. That's why Google paid millions for the old DejaNews archives, which contain messages for about a decade.

313 |  I don't have much more to add to Karen's note. This is the concept of discussion boards to hold everything within its subject. One can always find something useful in the message archive even for you this message is totally nonsense. I'm agree that there are dozens of meaningless topics and replies, but it will be incredible, unthinkable routine work to process all messages, delete bad ones and leave good ones. The only common things are getting edited in message boards are spam, abusive content and messages containing unlawful content. The other side of this issue is concerning forum moderators, they are the key persons in teaching people not to post garbage and follow some netiquette, but in our case we have some problems <img src="sad-2.gif" border="0"> I hope this will be fixed during the time. I feel some lack of active moderators especially in Software Development section, which was the main target of my forum and will be appreciated if someone could help me with this. I am planning in the future to post the list of moderators who satisfy this board needs and who don't really care of this board. |
