YEREVAN, MAY 5. ARMINFO. Ecological inspection of Armenia's nature protection ministry prevented the further felling of an unique and pictorial monument of nature - "Symphony of stones" located close to the 1th century pagan temple of Garni in the gorge of Azat river.
Ministry's press-secretary Artsrun Pepanyan informed ARMINFO that although "Symphony of stones" is not under the state special protection and the government does not have a legal right to prevent actions of local authorities, nevertheless, this territory is unique and passes through tourist routes. According to the source, the Ministry will take measures to include this territory in the lists of specially protected.
Some tourist organizations of Armenia left today for the place of "crime" and organized protest actions against the destruction of "Symphony of stones". To note, some local residents, with the approval of rural administration were engaged in truly vandalism, "felling" magnificent basalt broadstones created by nature itself as building materials. As ARMINFO leaks out, basalt broadstones finished by nature within hundreds of years became necessary for rural "businessmen" for sale.

anyway, there is a sense to call them more and more times, visit gughapetaran, place itself, bomb ministry with letters, mails and phone calls etc. As i know from our experience with the buildings words mean nothing here till you have no evidence /and eventhou/. IMHO

Somebody was talking meeting with Ambassador Markarian. That post does not show. But if the person still has a meeting could he please mention the facts to the Ambassador?

You're right. One cannot afford to bring up this matter based on just Arminfo reports. The research has to be done and quickly. Otherwise the time will be wasted and we will be in front of the fact of the natural treasure being forever lost. I hope there will be somebody who can give us more details. Well supported details. Люди, я токо что разговаривала с журналисткой "Айлур", которая вчера, то ли два дня назад делала репортаж обо всем об этом. Она сказала, что ничего подобного в Гарни не происходит, что никакой техники, необходимой для того, чтбы "срубить" эти базальтовые камни там не было.. Она разговаривала с гчьапетом. В обэем по ее словам, все это пустые слова, и ничего такого там нет...
Не знаю даже, может можно как-то иначе проверить информацию?
