Sun Microsystems Opens RFID testing and R&D laboratory in ARMENIA

> EIF and Sun Microsystems are implementing a joint program with the
> primary focus on Sun and other advanced technologies development in
> Armenia. The program is divided into 3 technology tracks, each
> focusing on a specific activity:

> 1. RFID testing and R&D laboratory. The Lab will focus on hardware
> research and development and testing of RFID and related technologies.
> It will be located at State Engineering University of Armenia (SEUA).
> The Lab would conduct various hardware testing and R&D activities in
> RFID and related fields.

> 2. JAVA teaching laboratory with the Sun Academic Initiative program.
> The teaching lab will be established in cooperation with and located
> at 3 major Armenian universities and will focus on teaching and
> training JAVA and related technologies.

> 3. Solution development, integration and testing center. The center is
> aiming at providing means for groups of companies, institutions and
> individuals to deliver proof-of-concepts, pre-integration and
> pre-industrialization solutions. The center will be located at EIF
> premises and allow developers to find a hosting center to make sure
> that they can perform a number of activities such as installation and
> unit testing of solutions, integration of solutions in a global IT
> environment and ability to test the integration, creation of a hosting
> space where representatives of all a project partners can come and
> create a solution based on a complex integration, and others.

> *1. RFID Lab: Project Leader *
>
> _Scope of Work_
>
> * Manage RFID Lab’s strategic development and day-to-day
activities;
> * Work with Lab’s various stakeholders to maximize stakeholder
> value and performance of the Lab;
> * Supervise and monitor research activities of the Lab in RFID and
> related areas;
> * Identify and implement new technological and research
> opportunities in RFID and related areas;
> * Provide periodic reports to EIF/SUN regarding Lab’s status and
> perspectives;
> * Perform other necessary duties in order to reach and maintain
> high performance of RFID Lab.

> _Qualifications_
>
> · Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Radiotechnics,
or
> related fields;
>
> · At least 7 years of experience in engineering/scientific research
> and development;
>
> · At least 5 years of experience in managing R&D or scientific
> teams/projects;
>
> · Excellent knowledge and understanding of RFID and related
technologies;
>
> · Effective management, leadership and team interaction skills
> including an ability to plan and organize work of a team comprising 10
> or more professionals, to make formal and informal presentations, and
> to communicate effectively at multiple levels;

> · Excellent spoken and written Armenian and English.

> *2. JAVA Teaching Labs: Technical Supervisor *

> NOTE: Labs will be installed on premises of 3 different universities
> located in Yerevan.

> _Scope of Work_
>
> * Conduct daily monitoring of computers, servers, networks, and
> other equipment;
> * Conduct installation, modification, development and support of
> SUN computers and servers and other equipment and
> internet/intranet-related tools;
> * Ensure proper and fault free functionality of the equipment,
> network, and software;
> * Report critical issues to the Labs’ authorized staff to prevent
> any interruptions in teaching process;
> * Provide periodic reports to EIF/SUN regarding status of Labs;
> * Perform other necessary duties to ensure smooth operations of
> the Labs.

> _Qualifications_

> · Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related
> fields, Master’s is preferred;

> · At least 4 years of experience in computer, networks, and system
> administration and monitoring;
>
> · At least 2 years of experience in Sun Solaris systems
administration;
>
> · Excellent knowledge of UNIX and Linux, knowledge of Windows server
> systems;
>
> · Effective leadership and team interaction skills including an
> ability to plan and organize work of a team, to make formal and
> informal presentations, and to communicate effectively at multiple
levels;

> · Excellent spoken and written Armenian and English.

> *3. Solution Development Center: Project Leader *

> · At least 3 years of experience in project management, preferably
> software development or R&D;

> · Effective management, leadership and team interaction skills
> including an ability to plan and organize work of a team comprising 10
> or more professionals, to make formal and informal presentations, and
> to communicate effectively at multiple levels;

> · Excellent spoken and written Armenian and English.

> *4. Solution Development Center: Assistant *

> * Assist the Center’s Project Leader in day-to-day management of
> the Center;
> * Work with the Center’s various stakeholders to facilitate R&D,
> development, and testing processes and maximize performance of

> * Perform other duties related to the operations of the Center.
