| Ìàãèñòð | The British Chevening Scholarships 2007/2008 Chevening Scholarships are offered by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and cover the costs of study (including living expenses and international flights) in Britain from 3 to 12 months. They are awarded on a competitive basis for advanced study in the fields of: • law with a focus on EU legislation, • development of the public sector to meet EU and other international standards, • strengthening of civil society and media capacity to monitor government activities and work with authorities, • strengthening the authorities’ capacity to work with civil society and the media, • implementation of Armenia’s international obligations in the fields of the environment and human rights Qualifications Applicants: • must have been born after 1 September 1972; • must be citizens of Armenia and should have resided in Armenia for the last five years; • should have not received any award for study overseas lasting more than three months since November 2003; • should already hold a higher education diploma; • two years work experience in their selected field of study would be preferable. How to Apply • All applications must be made on the official application form. Two references (on an official letterhead and/or with a stamp, not more than six months old), certified photocopies and certified English translation (if necessary) of diplomas and transcripts must be submitted with the application. Application forms and all supporting documents must be submitted in three copies (1 original and 2 photocopies). • Deadline for submitting applications is 17:00 on 21 December 2006. Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted. Selection Process Application forms will be reviewed and a shortlist will be drawn up by 8 January 2007. Preference will be given to applicants who have already chosen their courses and contacted universities. Shortlisted candidates will be asked to take a formal English language test (IELTS) on 20 January 2007. The provisional dates for interviews of shortlisted candidates who pass the English language test successfully are between 5-9 February 2007. Candidates must be available for the English test and interviews in Yerevan. The final results will be announced by mid February 2007.
