Well, I do it about once or twice a year, if not less, but tomorrow I am going to watch the game and besides yesterday I had a dream that the result of the game was 10:10 ![]() PS: I have purposely not posted this one in the section below to just have a free discussion. Red_Stone!! If we tomorrow come off second-best with a result 5:0 for Portugal, I will consider it a big victory for Armenia ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

My dear Hrach! First of all I don't support the so called portuguese national team, because: 1.- The guy who calls the players (Luís Filipe Scolari, not as you spelled his name) is not portuguese (a brasilian with iatalian origin); 2.- At least one of the players (Deco) is a brasilian who naturalised portuguese for playing for Barcelona; 3.- One of the players (Cristiano Ronaldo) was never punished by the portuguese federation for an act commited by him a couple of years ago, during a game between Manchester United and Benfica, when he clearly spitted to the Benfica's supporters and shew them the middle finger. Secondly I'm not so sure that it will be a piece of cake for Mr Scolari's team, mainly because most probably they will start the game thinking it is won in advance. Once you are going to watch the game I only wish that you see a good spectacle! Cheers!

I understand your personal reasons for not liking the Scolari (read the news in russian - the reason for misspeling his name ))) and his failures in choosing the right tactic for the national team but today's Portuguese team is still very strong imho ... ![]() |

Please don't misunderstand me, Hrach! I have nothing against (nor in favour of) Mr Scolari's capacities. The fault is entirely from the portuguese federation hiring a foreigner (who had never lived before in Portugal) to take full responsibility for the national team. Putting it in other words: I would prefer seeing the national team not going through under the command of a portuguese coach than seeing it champion under the command of a foreigner, a real foreigner. The targets don't justify the means, in my opinion. Cheers! |

attitude of Red Stone is a simple explanation of our (Armenian) reality ![]() Look at us. Brave and poor. Once I heard that in our Armenian schools abroad teachers teach our children: Our bread is better than other's honey. And we have what we pray. Ah now about topic: Don't you think that some things are over-national? art, culture, sport etc. Ah before going through this i would like to note: team is called national and it gives opportunity to gossip to the people who need to manipulate words. in world (take a look into any English up-to-date dictionary) national/nation are synonyms of word STATE. nothing more. America is not a nation, USA either, the same i can say about Canada and even this I can say the same about Brazilians and all Latino-American world. The meaning of world nation for Armenian and Brazilian cannot be the same. But they use word national. How, why ? THEY JUST DO MEAN under that STATE. No more hidden words. So please do not manipulate words. Scolari is Brazilian with Italian origin. So what? Magellan was not Spanish, he was Portuguese and his real name was not Magellan but Magellanesh. He changed his name because he did not like the attitude of his king and he swore to serve Spain. Ah so many gossips flowed over that times. But he discovered what we call Strait of Magellan JUST BECAUSE HE CHANGED HIS NAME AND SERVED SPAIN INSTEAD OF PORTUGAL. And world now has a Strait of Magellan, If he stayed in Portugal the history would have never created the story of a brave heart Magellan. Someone else would have done did, but not him, but the same we can say about Arshil Gorki, ahhh what the $$it he painted, someone else could do the same? ![]() So now we have the same with Scolari. If they want that coach that means they are pretty happy with him, and I am sure they will change him when they find he is no more good for them. ![]() |

Barev Երեխա! Your post would give us the opportunity of creating a very very long thread! Unfortunately at the moment I've very serious problems in my personal life that don't allow me to give to this the deserved attention. Just a couple of quick notes though. 1.- Money (unfortunately) is over or supranational, and is behind art and sport. For me this is disgusting, even at a national level. 2.- I've never heard that the guy you call Magellan changed his name. His name, as I was taught was Fernão de Magalhães, and yes the portuguese king refused his services, being still a secret if it was by political reasons, or because he didn't trust Magalhães, his abilities or both. Magellan is more a misspelling of the portuguese name than a change of name. Another very common misspelling is Vasco de Gama, instead of Vasco da Gama. 3.- I didn't manipulate words! Unfortunately the english language has no word for expressing our nacional or Nação. It hasn't even a word for Pátria (Patrie in french). So I was forced to use the most close for what I wanted to say. Cheers! |

Red_Stone! You were right, Cristiano Ronaldo is really a very arogant person... He rejected shaking hands with one of the guys in our team just the way they normally do after the match ... I would aroint the churl for his snobbish behavior ...

Funny (not funny really) thing is that I read somewhere that the guy "supports" some disabled people organization... May be because so he pays less tax... ![]() | |
