Invitation to CENN Armenia Opening Presentation
To all active NGOs, students, concerned citizens, active businesses, and government agencies:
The Armenia office of CENN is pleased to announce the opening of its new Public Outreach and Environmental Information Center (PEIC), housed in the Environmental Conservation and Research Center at the American University of Armenia. PEIC is primarily focused on the collection and distribution of grassroots environmental information to the public; hence, we invite you to visit and peruse our growing library. Likewise, we invite you to submit your own information regarding your organization’s activities and to donate your printed materials to our office. Electronic information can also be submitted to our office at [email protected] and will be posted on our website at www.cenn.org in the very near future. Any and all comments and suggestions regarding the site, or any of our activities, are welcome.
We are involved with many new and exciting ideas and projects that aim to increase public awareness and involvement in environmental matters and to promote coordination and cooperation among the Armenian environmental community through improved local information sharing. Such projects include: an internship/volunteer program for both students and interested individuals (which will be available for viewing on our website as well as in print at our Center); cooperative efforts with several NGOs and international organizations to increase public awareness and activity; the development and opening of an Environmental Impact Assessment National Center and library; and a bi-monthly newsletter dedicated to Armenian environmental issues and available in the Armenian and English languages. We are also currently working on several more projects in the forestry and energy sectors, and encourage your new ideas and suggestions for both projects-in-progress and future collaborative efforts.
You are invited to attend the introductory presentation of our office to the Armenian environmental community on 9 June 2004 at 17:30 in the Small Auditorium at the American University of Armenia (Fifth floor).
At the presentation we will also offer the most recent issue of our quarterly regional popular-scientific magazine, “Caucasus Environment” and to present the establishment of our new “Caucasus Environment Society” already in effect. If you would like to contribute to the magazine with articles or photos or would like to inform us of environmentally-related activities in your area, please contact us by e-mail at [email protected] or by phone at 51-26-93 or 51-26-94.
Please feel free to forward this invitation to anyone you feel may be interested. We kindly ask that you RSVP by Monday, June 7 by responding to [email protected] or by calling our office.
We look forward to hearing from you!
