WORLD PRESS PHOTO 2004 EXHIBITION OPENED IN YEREVAN

YEREVAN, March 3. /ARKA/. World Press Photo 2004 exhibition was opened in Yerevan. As Claudia Hintersir, responsible for the "World press photo" education program, stated at a press -conference confined to the exhibition, the goal of the exhibition was to contribute to the development of photojournalism and dissemination of information in Armenia. At the exhibition, 62 works of photographers from 23 countries, including Canada, the USA, France, Denmark, Germany, Russia, Australia were exposed. According to Hintersir, most photos are about conflicts and tragedies, in particular, in Iraq. "The exhibition that will last till March 27, is a kind of a window to the world", she said adding that the photos already had been exposed in over 80 cities of the world.

According to Hintersir, in the framework of the exhibition the Caucasus Mass Media Institute (CMI) will hold a competition of the essay "Exhibition as the youth see it".

World Press Photo Exhibition in held in Armenia for already the third time at the initiative of CMI.

To participate in the exhibition World press photo 2004, over 63 thsd photos by professional photographers from 124 countries of the world were exposed, of which in 2004, the authority jury selected only 62 photos.

Эд, на этой выставке я пока не был, но если бы ни эти кадры, может быть люди и не увидели всего этого, не призадумались.. а думать полезно.. если бы больше думали, таких вот трагедий было бы намного меньше..

Быть может, я просто не люблю кровь. Поэтому моя первая реакция на эти фотографии была негативной.

Слишком давящее впечатление.
Я понимаю, что на свете много войн, насилия и жестокости, но все же..
Были отличные фото, но слишком уж это насилия было в большом количестве...
