Do you really trust PestPatrol? 
The best way is to have firewall (agnitum is the best choice), then install your software and see if there is outgoing intentions.

That's the one I have. Problem is that the alarm comes when I doubleclick the installer, and PP say that there is a trojan in memory! Should I say to PP "Ignore it"? Would you say that?

I am not saying PP is dangerous itself, just may give false alarms based on some heuristic analysis, besiedes the software is fully with network oriented function calls. I would install Kaspersky, update database and install the software. Then I would carefully follow where the software is trying to connect and block all connections but to gmail server.

Couldn't get Kaspersky, but risked ignoring the alert of PestPatrol and installed the stuff.
You know what? Looked at my Outpost Log, and there were 15/20 refused connections per second to closed ports. I've never seen anything like this. Thanks God I have Outpost! 
Restored a recent image with PQ Drive Image, and am running safer now without POP3 in Gmail. After all it's a bit funny seeing it with browser as it's like a true conversation...
