Genocide in the 20th Century: A Comparison of the Armenian and Rwandan Genocides

Professional Activities: Executive Director, Center for Religion and Civic Culture at USC and Professor of Religion and Sociology. He is the author/editor of seven books including Armenia:
Portraits of Survival and Hope (University of California Press, 2003), Survivors: An Oral History of the Armenian Genocide (University of California Press, 1993), Homeless Families: The Struggle for Dignity (University of Illinois Press, 1993), and Writing and Research in Religious Studies (Prentice Hall, 1992). With his wife, Lorna, he has partnered with an association of orphans in Rwanda on an oral history project documenting the 1994 genocide. They have recently published “Orphans of the Rwanda Genocide,” which draws on 100 interviews with young adults who are heading households of their surviving siblings.
