The Fund for Armenian Relief (FAR) in partnership with the American
University of Armenia has signed a contract with the United States Agency
for International Development to implement the Humanitarian Assistance
Program for Nagorno Karabagh (HAPNK). The funds will be allocated for the
rehabilitation and new construction of schools, local health clinics, water
systems and shelter. The project is anticipated to run for two years as a
base period with a possibility of three one-year option periods. Initial
employment contract duration is for 3 months, renewable each six months
until the end of the project.
The FAR is searching for Accountant to be stationed in Nagorno Karabagh. If

POSITION TITLE: Accountant
LOCATION: Nagorno Karabakh
REPORTS TO: Deputy Chief of Party
OPENING DATE: June 24th, 2004
CLOSING DATE: June 30th , 2004
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Control the proper utilization of the petty cash account.
· Control the supporting documentation justifying advances provided
to the HAPNK personnel and contractors.
· Reconcile the HAPNK bank accounts with the bank statements account
monthly.
· Receive, review and approve the personnel travel reports.
· Review and reconcile the accounting transactions registered in the
general ledger transfer of funds, etc.
· Keep the HAPNK accounting files updated.
· Register the administrative and project expenditures in the
accounting system.
· Provide accounting information as required by the DCOP and FAR
Finance Director.
· Other duties as may be required by the supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· University Degree in accounting or finance or equivalent 2 years
experience.
· Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting standards and
procedures, Armenian local accounting and tax practices and regulations
· Excellent analytical and organizational skills
· Good knowledge of computerized accounting system is desirable.
· Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word and Excel
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment
· Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team
member on a large, complex development project
· Good working knowledge of English, Armenian and Russian
