JOB OPENING
Launched in 1994, the Armenian Assembly of America's NGO Training and
Resource Center (AAA NGOC) supports the development and growth of the
domestic non-governmental sector through diverse programs. Currently the
AAA/NGOC is implementing a USAID funded program "Armenia NGO Development
Program in Support of USAID's Social Transition Reform and Earthquake Zone
Programs". The Program works to achieve increased citizen participation in
the alleviation of the adverse impacts of transition throughout Armenia.
Position Title: Monitor
Summary Description
Primary responsibility: monitoring of sub-grants awarded NGOs, preparation
of reports and other relevant documentation on grant-recipient NGOs and
their activities. Position requires excellent communication and
writing/typing skills in English, Armenian and Russian, understanding of NGO
Sector.
Responsibilities
1. Monitor sub-grants awarded to NGOs
2. Report all monitoring results to Center Director
3. Maintain files of the grantees and ensure all needed documentation
and reports are turned in by the grantees in a timely manner
4. Prepare reports regarding projects implementation per set formats
5. Provide compliance related assistance and consultancy to grantees to
ensure smooth implementation of their projects
6. Assist in programmatic impact monitoring and impact evaluation
assessment of grantees
7. Design and conduct Grants Compliance Workshops
8. Update information on the grant-awarded NGOs and pass them to
Information/Social Marketing Department
9. Prepare monitoring schedules
10. Prepare NGO project activity schedules
11. Prepare summaries of the grant-awarded NGO projects per proposals
12. Prepare data on grant-awarded NGOs and projects
13. Produce relevant materials, documentation, forms, and handouts
14. Assist in designing and/or design impact tracking and evaluation tools
for program activities performed
15. Conduct training and provide consultancy on topics pertaining the scope
of work and expertise
Work Experience
Any combination of the following types of work experience is desirable:
· Monitoring experience
· Non-profit sector work
· Work experience in International organizations
· Knowledge of Armenian Accounting Standards and USAID Financial
Procedures
Qualifications Required:
· Excellent professional knowledge and subject matter expertise in
program area of responsibility;
· Excellent written and oral communication skills in Armenian,
Russian and English;
· Ability to timely identify problems and suggest solutions;
· Ability to work under minimal supervision;
· Advanced time management skills;
· Strong interest in NGO sector development;
· Demonstrated proactivity and initiative;
· Ability to work quickly and productively under time and work load
pressure;
· Personal aspiration for learning and professional development;
· Self-motivation and dedication;
· Professional business attitudes;
· Ability to balance several high-priority projects simultaneously;
· Good word-processing skills; good knowledge of Excel;
· Knowledge and understanding of Armenia NGO sector issues and
trends;

· Knowledge of NGO organizational and institutional development
issues;
· Ability to meet quality requirements for the work produced;
· Research techniques and skills.
