Discussion: Working from Home?

Just curios what options does the IT industry have for a person who wants to work from home? I've heard some coders/writers/R&D engineers do that.

Any other IT jobs that you have heard to have this option in Armenia? This is not for a particular profile/survey, it's just a general query with regard to the IT industry in Armenia.

Any pointers?

Red_Stone, Sevana - I'd also like to know you estimation for this in your countries since telecommuting (work at home) is first of all extensively known and practiced a lot in Europe and North America. Any experience with this to share with us?

Есть, некоторые знакомые так делают.
Но это не стабильно, от случая к случаю.

В-основном имеют что-то типа брокера там, который поставляет заказы.

Кстати, никогда не получалось работать дома, наверно атмосфера не та

иногда, под настроение. но для программирования наверно это все-таки неправильный вариант -- с коллективе программист работает лучше. примечание: в хорошем коллективе; )

sure there r options. i was working from home in armenia. it worked great, i could go to uni, my workplace in yerevan & work for 2nd job anytime, from anywhere. i should only meet deadlines. the only drawback: depends greatly on inet cnnctn, as boss & colleague were out of arm, we used only online communication means. & with our inet cnnct options in arm it sometimes become nightmare.

some improvements in armenian telecom-s would boost greatly distance/home job opportunities in IT.

Yes Hrach jan it is very common and populer in canada , as you know every home here is connected to unlimited internet and choice of servers also several phone lines are available . which makes running a home run bussines possible.
this has done wonders for people with small children at home , driving and parking , and the room in your home that you use as office is tax deductable as expence .
in my family we have jewllers , lawyers , hair dressers , accountants , home and office cleaning services , food catering service , all working from their private homes .
My husband and I can not take advantage of this as we are in the health care business

Good answer! the whole point with this query's been just to figure out how you from afar there compete/fight with slave labor in your countries! thanks!
