Default A guessing game with dice

OK here's the deal. This game is quite famous and has appeared in many forums, but I couldn't find it in this one, so I guess some of you may not know about it and may find it interesting.

The game rolls 5 dice for you on each round, and you have to guess correctly some mysterious "petals around the rose" number. You provide your own guess, then verify your answer with the real one. Once you start guessing on each hand, it means you have mastered the game. See how much time it will take you to start guessing correctly. Some people do it in one minute, some others spend several months

So here's the game: http://crux.baker.edu/cdavis09/roses.html
(Important: click Roll first, then write your guess, then click Check, in that order.)

And there's an alternative non-Flash implementation that I don't recommend, but if you can't open Flash, go ahead and use it: http://www.cs.odu.edu/~rpilking/rose/

Tell us of your results. Officially, the smarter you are, the harder it is to guess, so don't be shy And please don't reveal your strategy and don't spoil the fun for others

Thanks God it wasn't the russian roulette!

I did it, Gypsy, after several (don't know how many) tries, but it doesn't mean I've found the key...

It's a bit hot here... for thinking hard, you know?

I'll leave it for tonight, when it's less hot...

Cheers!

My goodness!

It was indeed under your eyes, I mean, my eyes! Why do we complicate simple things?
Translating a say in my country: "If it were a dog it would have bitten me!"

Thanks Gypsy!

lightontheshore and Erazik: the object of the game is to guess the outcome not once, but EVERY time. To find out the logic. So I am not sure if the task was understood correctly. Finding out the logic on the first try is pretty much impossible.

i've tried many times before i could figure it out but i'm sure my brother did it at once. i thought he just guessed without knowing the logic. but then the 2nd, the 3d, the 4th... i asked him to explain the logic and he did.
