Yeah, I do think everyone should know her. And it's hard not to know her, her songs are everyewhere - movies, TV programs...

FC, it's very simple. I don't know her. I never heard her name. Yes, may be it's odd, i dunno. I've had a debate with a friend who said everybody should know her and it's a shame that i don't.
And I've decided to make a poll bout this. And I think I've made a mistake with the poll name. so I'm gonna rename it

they are... Edith Piaf is a 20th century classic. She is the same for music as, say, Hemingway is for literature.
You may argue that not knowing is not a shame, but your opening this poll suggests that you are kind of defending your right not to know basic things Kind of boasting even - I don't know her, so what?
