The Show Must Go On!
Street Animation Youth Exchange
July 15–23, Ribadavia 2006
Context
O.M.I.X. Oficina Municipal de Información Xuvenil de Ribadavia is supporting Centro de Estudos Medievais in organising a youth exchange with active groups in the field of street animation. The exchange will be organised in Ribadavia, the capital of O Ribeiro, in the region of Galicia, North-western Spain.
The exchange will take place in July 15-23 2006 at the same time as the 22nd edition of Mostra Internacional de Teatro, which this year will host 20 theatre companies from Galicia, Spain and all over the world. The programme will include indoor, open-air and street performances, children’s shows and contemporary dance.
This project aims to support the intercultural learning and exchange of experiences between street animation groups from different countries of Europe.
It will gather six groups of street animators from all over Europe, which will be hosted in Ribadavia at the same time as the Mostra Internacional de Teatro.
Activities
This exchange will focus on the development of activities related to the theme of the project and also its objectives. The programme will include:
-workshops organised in order to facilitate the exchange of ideas in the field of street animation, which will be structured according to the type of activities that the partner groups have experience in. The success of these activities has a lot to do with the commitment of the partner organisation in preparing and leading the workshops proposed in the GI Form that they sent. The workshops will take place in the morning and in the afternoon.
-intercultural learning activities focused on the presentation of various elements representing the cultures of the groups participating in the exchange and presentations of the activities that the groups are currently developing, its methods and approach in working with youngsters. These activities will be done during the Intercultural Evening.

-performances of groups participating in the exchange, aiming to have an impact on a local level and also to directly involve the youth from Ribadavia. Given the fact that during the same period of time an International Theatre Festival will take place in Ribadavia, the participants will have the change to attend many performances included in the programme of the festival.
-informal activities and visits in the region because it is important that the participants get in touch with the local natural and cultural heritage.
English will be the working language of the exchange.
Accommodation and Food
During the whole exchange the participants and group leaders will be accommodated in a Local Youth Sports Centre in 4 or 6 people compartments sleeping on mats. The accommodation scheme will take into consideration the aspects of interculturality, which means that youngsters from different participating countries will share the same accommodation space.
There will be three meals per day provided, all three in a nearby restaurant, Hostal-Restaurant Evencio. We can use the swimming pool. During the days in which we will organise visits out of town, the meals will be either provided in restaurants in the place of destination or replaced by sandwiches and snacks, as proceeds. Vegetarian meals will be available upon previous (pre-arrival) request. The fist meal will be the dinner of July 15 and the last one, the breakfast of July 23.
