Armenian Deposit Guarantee Fund: The Fund was established in March 2005, according to the Law ON GUARANTEE OF REMUNERATION OF BANK DEPOSITS OF PHYSICAL PERSONS. The objective of the Law is to promote a reliable banking system in the Republic of Armenia, to enhance the public confidence in the banking system, and to protect interests of depositors.
The National Assembly of Armenia adopted the Law on November 24, 2004. The Central Bank of Armenia is the sole founder of the ADGF. All 21 commercial banks that operate in Armenia are members of the DI system and make regular quarterly contributions. The representatives of the Central Bank of Armenia, the Ministry of Finance and Economy and the Union of Banks represent the Board of the ADGF. The Director of the Fund carries out the day-to-day management of the Fund. Nowadays about 90 countries have DI system of different types.
