Assimilation Vs. Genocide?, Difference of being massacred or being assimilated

For us (Armenians) what is the difference of being massacred or being assimilated?

What is the difference when nation is being massacred or being assimilated? I think the second one is worst. What is your opinion in this issue?
Studies showed that during the history 7 time more Armenian people completely lost their identity & disappeared as Armenians through assimilation than they been killed during all the wars & genocides combined.
What percentage of 7 million Armenians living abroad will stay Armenian (I mean real Armenian, not just the names) in next 25, 50 or 100 years?
I think we are loosing the biggest war in our history without a battle by living in other countries. Me, personally, after 15 years living in the USA (Los Angeles) even by having a good carrier, job, own house, decided & acutely moving back to Armenia (my wife & 3 kids already went there last month & I am leaving in a few days). I do not want to be a cause of the END (disappearance) of my generation ( blood) & its identity. Good luck for others. Good Bless Armenia.

Man, it's a good thought. I value it, really. But don't be too much obsessed with your mother country. Next to hundred of thousands of really good people you may find a lot of bustards too. My advice, if you have immovable property in the States, don't hurry with selling it. Make sure you have a place to return if you're disappointed. I know some really sad cases. In case of establishing a business, be careful. Don't trust to every single person just because he's armenian. And don't lend money to anyone. There's a big chance that you will never see it back. Beware of the traffic. For deputies, oligarchs, mafia and people anyhow related to them driving with 200km/h is quite common. They may drive over you and your family and nobody will ever find them. Don't rely on traffic lights, trust your eyes and just be careful.

I don't want to sound negative, but Armenia is no paradise. Just be careful. I wish you and your family good luck.

Good advices. Be very very carefull in establishing business. Try to have a source of income outside of Armenia ( a house rent for example ). Don't trust the banks who give high interest rates.
And be ready to meet a lot off people who are very unhappy of being armenian. They are dreaming to assimilate themselves.

I can't understand how can masacres be compared with assimilation and, moreover how can mass killings be better than free will???

People have right to live wherever they want and choose whatever culture and language they want to. This is their free will. Whereas masacres are brutal kilings...

I think your question may be rephrased as "would you prefer to live in independent (or free) Armenia but me prisoned (not free) as an individual". I prefer to be free. To me there are much more important values...

The problem here is people are concentrating too much on what the words actually mean and forgetting about the real problem.

Personally I don't see a difference between a massacre and a genocide what matters here is the reasons for the actions and the end results.

When someone sets out to "cleans" their people of what they consider impurities it matters not how this goal is achieved, the form of murder is irrelevant. A dead person is a dead person whether he was shot in the head or stabbed with a knife or gassed or burned, and yes even sent out into the desert with no food or water.

EVEN if we pretend to be stupid and not consider the direct murders carried out by the turks we can't pretend to not hear that they already have admitted to deportation of the Armenian people. Are we to believe that the turks assumed people can live without food and water?

So again the method of murder is not the issue as appalling as it may seem. The system of murders they employed are textbook examples of genocide ironically those text books were written using Armenia as one of it's examples.

So a massacre and a genocide and mass murder are all the same thing when the intent is to eradicate an entire people.
