Ну, пробовал я. Снес через день.
Рекомендую подождать первого Service pack-а. Ну и писюк должен быть помощнее. Теперь и видео-карта стала иметь значение, дожили (у меня всегда самое слабое место в PC - видео карта, зачем она программисту?)

Снес в тот же день - incompatibility with MS SQL Server 2005, minor incompatibilities with VS2005, waiting for SPs

Хотя на днях переставлю на отдельный партишн, для поиграцца

Если пытаться на этом деле работать, то жутко не удобно. так что на работе у меня ессесно XP.
А вот дома где царит полный Энтертайнмент. Виста стоит у меня уже недели три и бесспроблем

Вполне приличная ОС. а игры на ней как удобно играть

Postavil. Poka dovolen i snoit` ne sobirayus`. Izmeniya po sravneniyu s XP v osnovnom v interface-e, yadro to zhe samoe. Est` poleznie fichi.
Interface ochen` krasiviy, nesravnenno luchshe XP.
Problemi s driverami ochen` mnogix ustroystv, no ix vpolne mozhno zamenit` driverami dlia XP.
Crack ne srabotal, proshlos` installirovat` budushim chislom. Esli kto-to znaet i ukazhet nadezhniy crack - budu obyazan.

That was the understatement of the year! Sure we can say that Vista's Kernel is a continuation of NT, but it has been quite modified in Vista! For example, graphical drivers are now moved to the user space from the kernel space. It implements techniques like I/O priorities, memory priorities, the thread scheduler has been replaced, the Hardware Abstraction Layer has been completely revisited!! Нормально вроде но думаю с интерфейсом немного переборщили, уж слишком все наваречено и 3-х мерно
Проблем с системой не было но вот убедить ее установить драйвер моего саунда не удалось мне, родственнику на Creative LIVE тоже....

Silver, I didn't go into details, I don't care much. What matters to me at this point is that NO ESSENTIAL CHANGES mage into the system and I can continue using pretty much all the programs I used to run on my XP system. Hacking into Vista internals is none of my concern right now .
But thanks for information anyway. Would have been better if you could provide us with the source, unless your statement is result of your own research efforts.

W_z_rd, define 'essential changes'

If, hypothetically, you could run all your XP programs on Wine under Linux, would it mean that the kernels of Linux and XP are the same?

My statements are flowing out of my own research. Some of the points mentioned can be found in the document linked at the bottom of my previous post

Any of the points can easily be checked with Google. Just search for the point + " Vista".

Then why mention Vista's kernel? Kernel is a very technical word and has quite a strict meaning. Let's say, kernel is the most internal 'Vista internal' that you could mention

If we're talking from the user's perspective, just because the buttons, the listboxes, the IE and the Office remind of their older versions, and just because there still are icons in Vista doesn't mean it has the same kernel as XP. Also, just because the same application runs on different systems doesn't mean they share the same kernel. Running an application is a very complex task.

Anyway, I guess we're just arguing about the usage of the word 'kernel'

My point is that Vista does not have the same kernel as XP:
