Sebastian Vettel: World Champion!
Sebastian Vettel became the youngest world champion in Formula One history after clinching victory in the final race of the season at Abu Dhabi as Red Bull Racing made it a championship double.
The 23-year-old was third in the standings but led from pole and drove a near faultless race en route to a first championship victory a week after Red Bull claimed the constructors’ title.

Team-mate Mark Webber finished eighth, third overall, while Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso, who led the championship rankings going into the final race, passed the chequered flag in seventh to finish runner-up in the final standings.

Lewis Hamilton finished second and McLaren team-mate Jenson Button completed the final podium of the season.

Sebastian Vettel Crowned Formula One Champion

Seemingly against the odds, Sebastian Vettel raced himself into the history books in Abu Dhabi, becoming the youngest ever Formula One world champion.
Having already secured the constructors’ (team) title last weekend in Brazil, Red Bll Racing still had both their drivers in contention for the second title.
Seb lay behind both championship leader Fernando Alonso of Ferrari and his own team-mate Mark Webber in the standings. But, after gaining pole position on Saturday evening Seb never had to look back. While the progress of Mark and Alonso were hampered by an early pit stop which left them behind slower cars, Seb lead for the whole race to take victory and the world title.
Mr Mateschitz was there to see the man he and the Red Bull team had nurture from a boy in karting to become the best driver of 2010.
Afterwards team principal Christian Horner said: ““It’s an unbelievable outcome. Seb has had some tough times and he’s had his issues with reliability, but he’s never lost his focus. He’s the youngest ever Formula One World Champion and a very deserving one. We mustn’t forget Mark in all this and what an incredible job he’s done this year. He’s driven superbly well. It could have gone to either one of them this year and it’s a great privilege to have these two guys in our team. I’d like to thank every single member, all our suppliers, everyone at Red Bull and Dietrich Mateschitz for his unfaltering support. It’s been a very, very big week.”

Testing for the 2011 campaign starts this week in Abu Dhabi…
