POP3 quest.....

Hello.

Suppose I'm an organization which buys mail account and domain from Arminco. Suppose my organization name is al-qaeda, and my domain is al-qaeda.am. Server is located at Arminco. My email address is [email protected]. Here questions go:

1. Why am I using 'binladen%al-qaeda.am#al-qaeda.am' as a username in my outlook.

How do I check my mail directly using telnet and pop protocol??

What hostname do you use in Outlook? al-quaeda.am? Or something else?

in fact there's something I forgot to notice:
I'm running outlook from a computer which is connected to that server through LAN, and so my host written there is not al-qaeda.am, it's just host's IP address in local LAN......

Stupid question.. have you tried to do telnet by IP adress? (In that case only you can claim you did the same things as Outlook).
But I don't realy see any difference in telneting 25 port of host name or by ip adress. My suggestion look very stupid, but that's the only thing I would try on your place.

Does Arminco Support give you any answer?

Commutitygate is virtual mailbox sofwtare, so i think that u must specify domain name in usernae, so communiygate can open proper mailbox,
try binladen_DOMAINNAME, or binladenOMAINNAME

VX: he does (see his 1st question). I'm not sure about last #al-quaeda.am, but that might be Arminco's specific config.

Rust. Did you tried telnet host.am 25 ?
I swear I did thing you're trying to do once, but this was 1 year ago, and I remember seeing the same message. I remember trying different hostnames and ip adresses, but I don't remember wich one worked...

Does Outlook make any logs of what exactly it doing?

By the way, I didn't understand why did you write 'telnet host.am 25'.... Is SMTP anyhow bound with POP3??

Ooof I'm tired of lame administration of Arminco
I need to write a webbased mail client for Al-Qaeda and I can't make it!! Help!

Sorry about 25 port, I so used to telnet on SMTP ports I automatically write 25 after any telnet command. Of course it should be 110.

I wouldn't say it's 'lame administartion of Arminco' because Outlook works, right? And if it works - then system is OK!

Have you actually spoken to their support?
